On December15,2013,2013 Cross-strait Symposium on Private International Law,namely,Pingtan Free Trade Zone Law Seminar was held at Yishan Hotel of Fuzhou University.The meeting was hosted by China Association of private international law and Taiwan Research Association of Private International Law and undertaken by Law School of Fuzhou University,Experimentation area CMC of Fujian pingtan, Taiwan Law Research Center of China University of Politics and Law,Wuhan University Institute of International Law,including Taiwan counterparts,More than 40 experts and scholars from universities, research institutes and legal practice circles,and a part of Students and teachers from law school of Fuzhou University attended the meeting.
Professor Zou Xiong,the Dean of Law School of Fuzhou University chaired The Opening ceremony.firstly,Professor Zou expressed a warm welcome to representatives,introduced the experts attending the opening ceremony led by professor Huang Jin,President of the China Society of Private International Law and President of China University of Political Science,Sir Liu Tiezheng,Vice President of the Taiwan Institute of Private International Law and Former Chief Justice,professor Chen Yongzheng,CPC Party Secretary of Fuzhou University,and he expressed his sincere gratitude to the colleagues,experts and scholars who attended this seminar.
Mr.Liu Tiezheng,the Vice President of the Taiwan Institute of Private International Law,former Chief Justice made a speech.Firstly,he showed greetings to the teachers,leaders and students who attended the meeting. Since 2007,the colleagues studying private international law from the both sides of the Taiwan Strait had discussed,studied,criticized over 200 papers together,which made outstanding contribution to the foundation of new private international law of both sides and increase mutual understanding.This meeting should have been held in Taiwan,while because of the enthusiastic support of Chinese Society of International Law,and in case of the carefully preparation,this meeting could be hold successfully in Fuzhou.On behalf of Taiwan Research Association of Private International Law and Justice Ma Hanbao,he expressed his gratitude and apologies.The conference’s theme was the practice and review of the new private international law.some new issues would happen as well as the pass of new international private laws of both sides.by exchanging views,the two new private international laws would be improved greatly and implemented smoothly.
Professor Huang Jin,President of the China Society of Private International Law,President of China University of Political Science presented a speech.Firstly,Professor Huang expressed a warm welcome to everyone attending the conference.2013 was the ninth seminar jointly organized by the two sides,since 2005,the conference was continuingly expending its impact,which promoted the level of research on private international law of both sides and made much contribution in mutual communication.Fujian is close to Taiwan and has geographic advantages,Pingtan is the nearest place from the mainland.Besides,Taiwan compatriots mostly are natives of Fujian Province and enjoys deep connection with mainland people,and Hokkien is a vivid example.the meeting was divided into two stages,and separately held at Fuzhou and Pingtan.Pingtan was the continent’s comprehensive experimental zone of economic exchanges with Taiwan,and a series of challenges would follow.besides this issues,he hoped to discuss the legal issues on recent Shanghai Free Trade Zone,the frontier of cross-border economic experimental zone and promote regional economic exchanges.At last,he thanked the organizers for their strong support and showed best wishes for the colleagues during Fuzhou and Pingtan!
Chen Yongzheng,Party secretary of Fuzhou University,on behalf of Fuzhou University,presented a welcoming speech.He first introduced the long history and cultural characteristics of Fuzhou.He said,Fuzhou is a livable city and has a picturesque scenery.Secondly,he introduced briefly the development and achievement of Fuzhou University in the past 55 years,highlighting the development of law school.Since founded in 1993,the law school had mde much progress,and had a secondary-level doctoral station of environment and resources protection law,a first-level master station,a legal professional degree station and undergraduate discipline of law.The law school had trained a large number of senior legal personnel for the society.He said the annual conference would benefit the development and cooperation of law school of Fuzhou University and its liberal arts.Finally,he wished the conference a great success!
At the end of the opening ceremony,Mr.Liu Tiezheng,Vice-President of Taiwan Research Association of Private International Law presented gifts to China University of Political Science,Fuzhou University and Wuhan University and expressed their sincere gratitude,which reflected the profound friendship of private international law scholars between both sides.
